Before I say anything else run out and buy a copy of this CD so you too can bask in the magnificence of this superb album. Back yet? Ok. Rip the wrapper off, peel off the annoying sticker, pop it in your player of choice and sit back and bob your head for the next 43 minutes. It's that good. It really is. I really enjoyed their first album and had high expectations for them on this new album. Expectations they not only met but exceeded. Like Shadows Fall, I feel that the hope of American metal lies in the capable hands of Beyond the Embrace. They have a way of bringing old school to class with the new school and making it work. The guitars (all three of 'em) riff like crazy and make me want to go home and dust off my old B.C. Rich. The vocals are harsh and discernible at times, clean and melodic at other times, but always damn catchy. I had the pleasure of seeing these guys play on the Iced Earth tour a few months ago, and while they really had to cram to get everyone on the tiny stage at the Recher theater, they sounded awesome. Behold the coming of the new age of metal. Now, if you have any money left, go out and buy copies for everyone you know. |
