It amazes me how some bands can have such wonderful production, and how some bands have only mediocre or worse production, and they can both be on the same record label. Isn't there some sort of standard at the label? There should be someone who says "Hey, this could sound a little better." I guess it depends on how much money the label feels like sinking into the recording process. But you would think that they would have a higher standard for what they release. Anyway, Fleshcrawl is a pretty good death metal band. I would like them even more if the production on this disc was clearer, crisper, and had more punch. The production is really pretty typical of middle of the road death metal, and I think this band probably deserves a little better. The music is at least cool. I can get behind the music. Just wish it sounded a little better. The vocals are standard death metal fare. They fit the music well though and are placed nicely in the mix so they are not buried, but neither do they lie on top of the music. You could do a lot worse than picking up this album. |
