Opinion:

This album is so much fun to listen to! Mr. Sanders and crew bring, by far, the heaviest Nile album to date. From beginning to end, the songs flow together naturally, placed in perfect lineage to create an incredible music experience. On "Annihilation", the album is steeped in ancient Egyptian overtones, lyrically and musically. None of it gawdy or campy. They maintained a strong, epic command of the music's atmosphere also found in their earlier works, "Black Seeds of Vengeance" and "In Their Darkened Shrines". The CD is loaded with intricate changes and riffs, great vocals and maddening drums.

The CD opens with an instrumental called, "Dusk Falls Upon The Temple of the Serpent On the Mount of Sunrise", luring it's listener into the depths of it's ancient darkness. "Cast Down the Heretic" comes blasting out hard and from then it's on. Standing out on this CD are the tracks, "Cast Down The Heretic", a wall of brutal metal, "The Burning Pits of the Duat", full of absolutely amazing rhythm work, "Lashed to the Slave Stick" and it's relentless drive and the title track, "Annihilation of the Wicked", A great mix of blast and atmospheric rhythms. All the songs are incredible in their own right and compliment eachother perfectly.

In my humble opinion, this is the best Nile album thus far. Nothing on this album is compromised or lost in the translation that Nile's known for bringing to us. I'm sold.

(Can't seem to get the CD out of my player...hehehehe)
